Elephant Orphanage

After we went to the Giraffe Center we headed over to the Elephant orphange. It is a place that rescues baby elephants that are alone; some are due to poaching and others falling in wells etc. They take care of them until they are 3. Then they are sent to another location where they try to help them find a herd and introduce them back into the wild.

The workers brought out 9 elephants that were under 2 years old -- the youngest was only 2 months. We watched them guzzle abut 2 gallons of milk in no time!!! Then they got to play. By the time we left, the watering hole had changed into a puddle the consistancy of pudding. They had a lovely time!!! They had the hardest time getting back out of the hole =>. Lest you are annoyed by the giggling in the video it was the teenagers standing next to me.

After the little elephant finally got out of the hole he spent the next few minutes at the water bucket trying to get the mud out of his eye.

After about half an hour they led the first group away and brought out another 9 or so of the older babies.
